About Us: The InfoHealth Awareness Group (IHAG) is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting individual wellness and preventing diseases through education and healthcare services. Led by a team of renowned health professionals, IHAG strives to create a society where individuals are empowered to lead healthier lives, free from preventable diseases and hereditary disorders. Our focus is on reaching underserved communities in Nigeria, ensuring that even the most remote regions have access to life-saving health information.
Our mission is to bridge healthcare gaps, complementing government efforts by delivering public health services and raising awareness about preventable health issues, particularly in rural areas.
Who We Are
IHAG is comprised of dedicated health professionals who specialize in public health research, community outreach, and health awareness initiatives. Our team organizes workshops, seminars, and large-scale campaigns to ensure individuals have the knowledge needed to prevent common diseases and lead healthier lives. We are particularly focused on both rural communities and corporate sectors, providing timely health updates and preventative care education.
IHAG was founded by Dr. S.I.R. Okoduwa, a medical biochemist and toxicologist, who was driven by personal tragedies to establish the organization. The group was inspired by the untimely death of his close friend, Engr. Osayande Esekhaigbe, an engineering graduate who lost his life to sickle cell disease during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. This disorder, which could have been prevented through pre-marital counselling or prenatal screening, motivated Dr. Okoduwa to create a platform for health professionals to work together in preventing such avoidable tragedies.
The organization’s passion grew further when Dr. Okoduwa lost his father to pulmonary heart infection, after surviving cardiovascular disease for 13 years. These personal experiences reinforced our mission to prevent others from losing loved ones to conditions that can be managed or avoided with proper health awareness and timely intervention.
Our Mission
IHAG’s mission is to complement the government’s healthcare efforts by providing health information and services to communities that are often overlooked, particularly in rural areas. We aim to ensure that everyone, regardless of location, has access to crucial health education and preventive care.
Our Goals
- To combat preventable diseases and disorders across Nigeria.
- To promote health awareness, especially among rural populations.
- To reduce hereditary diseases and protect future generations of Nigerians from avoidable health conditions.
Our Approach
At IHAG, we blend cutting-edge research with practical outreach initiatives to create lasting health improvements. Our key initiatives include
- Mass Health Awareness Campaigns: We engage the public through large-scale campaigns, educating them about preventable diseases and empowering them to make informed health decisions.
- Community Healthcare Services: We provide medical services to rural communities with limited healthcare access, ensuring that everyone receives the care they need.
- Marital Counseling: Our counselling services aim to reduce the prevalence of hereditary diseases like sickle cell by educating couples on genetic conditions before marriage or childbirth.
- e-Health Education: We leverage digital platforms and social media to provide health updates and preventive information, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of location.
- Corporate Health Awareness: For corporate workers with demanding schedules, we offer health information and encourage routine medical check-ups, addressing the needs of those who may neglect their health due to work commitments.
Why We Care
IHAG was founded out of a deep commitment to fighting preventable diseases and hereditary disorders, driven by the loss of Engr. Osayande Esekhaigbe and Dr. Okoduwa’s father. Watching loved ones succumb to conditions that could have been prevented fueled our passion to raise awareness and save others from similar fates.
Premature deaths from preventable diseases, particularly in rural and underserved communities, can be avoided through proper health education and early intervention. At IHAG, we are dedicated to ensuring that no one loses a loved one due to a lack of healthcare or information.
